More Awards and 4 Day Weekend Ahead

Good Afternoon Rattler Nation,

It was a great week with a lot to celebrate. We look forward tomorrow to Prom!

Please read all this blog as several time-sensitive actions need to be taken. We have a four-day weekend ahead for Memorial Day. Please make sure you have it marked down on your calendars.

Congratulations to Lavelle Teague, who played in the CIF Golf Championships this year. He is one of the top 7 Freshmen in San Diego County. This is a huge accomplishment for him and us. We are so proud to call him a Rattler!

We have Mental Health Awareness Week this upcoming week, and we have a whole week planned!

CIF Scholars Breakfast:

Two of our athletes were recognized for being the very definition of student-athlete. Tyler Bodenhamer and Alyssa Murray were the award winners, and it was an honor to celebrate with them and their families. In addition, they had some of the highest GPAs of all the 200 schools, which is a testament to these students and the programs we offer here at the school.

28 San Diego Area Students Win National Merit Scholarships--We have a winner!

Students receive a $2,500 scholarship based on grades, scores, extracurriculars, etc.

  • Tyler J. Bodenhamer of San Diego

    • School: Canyon Hills High School

    • Probable career field: Computer Engineering

CLUB ELEVATE:

ELEVATED set off on a year-long campaign to tackle the issue of underage drinking by shifting social norms and perceptions of youth alcohol use. ELEVATED youth developed social media messages, youth-targeted posters, adult-targeted educational materials (like the link posted below), and public service announcements to promote healthy behaviors, safe alternatives for fun, and healthy coping mechanisms.

Club ELEVATED thinks it’s just as important for parents to receive educational prevention campaigns in parallel with the ones students receive on campus to maximize impact—

PEER TUTORING for the Class of 2025--but everyone is welcome!

This program is on hold as we are having difficulties getting students to sign up to come to tutoring, and we haven't had any drop-ins. We have willing tutors, but students are not taking advantage of this opportunity.

SENIORS

Do you have a Senior? Well, CHHS has a Booster Club so that you can stay up to date on things and events about them:

The Canyon Hills/Serra Parent Class Boosters is a parent organization that supports your student's graduating class with activities and events not typically sponsored by the school. As your student approaches senior year, through fundraising and donations, this group helps offset the cost and implement activities like grad night, prom, senior luncheon, graduation venue, powder-puff, and more.
