Hello Q-Nation! We had another amazing week at SHS!
Serra Sophomore Cooper J. and Coronado Troop 801 Eagle Scouts and parents gave 16 hours of volunteer time last weekend to complete the new “S” under the scoreboard just in time for the Homecoming game against Coronado this Friday! Thank you Cooper and Eagle Scouts!
Serra High School is an official NO PLACE FOR HATE school, which kicked off this past week! We look forward the activities this awesome group of students will lead in this important work.
It's Homecoming and we are super excited to get the weekend started. Game tonight is 6:30PM at Home vs. Coronado with the JV game starting at 3:30. Hope to see you there. Tomorrow is the "Pardi Gras" Homecoming dance! It begins at 7pm and ends at 10pm--we are excited that 600 students are signed up to attend!

Professional Development for Serra Educators! Our staff came together on Wednesday to discuss, "What's Culture Got to Do With It?," chapter 2 in our Professional Learning book, Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain by Zaretta Hammond. Teachers participated in a World Cafe discussion method, one they can also use in their classrooms to promote small group discussion and inquiry.
Counseling:
Please make sure you are attending your child's Grade Level Parent Night. SENIOR parents, you sign and return your child's Senior Contract which has already gone out to your student. Please review carefully. Senior parents, the contract also includes name verification for your student's diploma...You only get one copy of the diploma so you need to make sure you have it printed correctly. The Counseling Department invites all parents to attend our annual parent nights and other informational nights hosted during the month of October. The dates are as follows:

All meetings start at 6:00pm and in the Media Center. Transcripts with class ranking will be distributed during senior parent night. Transcripts will not be given to seniors that have yet to turn in their senior contract/name verification form. In order to avoid this inconvenience please make sure they turn in their senior contract/name verification form to Mrs. Perez-Ibarra before October 7.
