Who's Awesome? Serra's Awesome!

Do you know we have a Instagram and Facebook?????? You do now! Follow all things SHS:Facebook: @serrahighschool and Instagram: @juniperoshs

Hello Conquistador Nation! This week we are in playoffs! We play Sweetwater tonight, here, at 7PM! This is now the BIG time as we already won the League Championship! All people need to pay at the door (yes...even if you have an ASB sticker--CIF does not honor these during playoffs); please come ready to root on your football team!

Last Friday, we had Principal's Coffee and we went and toured Math and Science classrooms. We talked about what's working and what isn't, as Serra High School will be focusing on Math this year. Parents were very excited to see instruction! We will be doing this as part of our coffee from now on! If you missed it here is the link: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1PNd2fCf24eteJ7UivY71MmWhUFMjF2BqbADQm2v2USE/edit?usp=sharing

Lastly, we had an amazing CLUB RUSH!!!!!! Want to start a club? See Joe Schmidt and get a staff advisor! Or, just join one of our 50 clubs on campus!

AND NOW YOU KNOW! Instruction Spotlight!:

This week we continued our journey from macro (LARGE SCHOOL DATA) to more individual subject area and teacher data. This involves looking at Powerschool gradebooks, class averages, and what teachers are grading. Are our assignments truly evaluating learning? Are they rigorous? In addition to what what we grade, how we grade is a form of communicating our expectations and students' growth!

We also have been looking at students who are not being successful and meeting in our teams to talk about what has been done and what more we can do to support all different learners here at Serra. Sometimes it a tough love talk, sometimes it's connecting students to the myriad of supports and services located right here on our campus. Sometimes, parents, we need an extra push from you!

Athletics:

Winter Sports Meeting: Highly Recommended! November 15th at 6pm in the GYM!

A great way to spend your evenings is with SHS Athletics and our amazing events. There are so many that we have our own website devoted to just this topic. Please reference this link which can also be found on our webpage.http://www.maxpreps.com/high-schools/serra-conquistadors-(san-diego,ca)/calendar.htm

Reminder: Athletics is a privilege not a right. An athletes' first step if they are acting in a manner unbecoming of Serra is that Athletics is taken away for the season! A sports physical dated after June 4, 2018 must also be turned into the front office with the confirmation form from the website. To get cleared for athletics go to www.athleticclearance.com
